Cherries

These are my favorite fruit! My mother planted these fruit trees a few years back and that was a very wise decision. These cherries are the best! Thanks Mom! Thanks to everyone that helped pick too!

View from hills of Berkeley

I spent a couple of nights with a friend in Berkeley and this was the view from my bedroom window. It was very hot that day and I liked how the tree looked in the sunset.

Wild Flowers along Trinity River

These flowers I have known all my life they bloom along the Trinity river each spring. They are beautiful wild flowers and usually bloom just before the wild snap dragons. The first digital photograph has the Snapdragons to the right of the Lupine, they are always shades of yellow when blooming.

Sutter Butte Mountain Range

Known as the smallest mountain range in the world. I stopped off of Interstate 5 sometime back and it was a beautiful spring day. The smallest mountain range was in the distance, so I took a few photographs. It was a pretty hazy day.

Highway 20, Calistogo, Middleton

This is off of Highway 29 heading from Alexander Valley Road, Calistoga to Middleton. This is one of the more curvy mountain roads, in northern California. At the top of the mountain is the Robert Lewis Stevenson State Park. Supposedly on a clear day from the peak you can see Mt. Shasta!

Robert Louis Stevenson State Park is the place where the famous author of Treasure Island and Kidnapped spent his honeymoon in 1880. Although nothing remains of Stevenson’s cabin, the site is identified on the trail to the summit.

Olampoli Park, Marin County

Olampoli State Park, Highway 101, California

Olampoli State Historic Park http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=22728

This beautiful state park is so easy to miss off of highway 101 north of San Francisco south of Petaluma. Believe it or not the rock band Grateful Dead lived here in 1966 and Janis Joplin has been known to have stayed here. The grounds are amazing with beautiful old trees, gardens, an old fountain, and many historical signs explaining the history of the site. There are wild turkeys on the grounds also. If you prefer to just take a hike up the mountain you can do that too. There is also a huge Try Pot, which I included a picture about the history of this pot.

"The name "Olompali" comes from the Coast Miwok language and likely means "Southern village" or
"Southern people". "

Cinco de Mayo Celebration - Shasta College

There was a celebration for Cinco de Mayo at the local community college. It is a wonderful event, there is some good food, and latin music, along with these very talented young dancers from Corning High School. They are so energetic, and truly can dance well.

Here are the photographs that I took. They dresses are so colorful and beautiful!

Trader Joes Grand Opening, Redding, CA

I went to the Trader Joe's Grand Opening on Friday. We have been waiting for some time for the opening. It was a great event, there were many people, everyone was very patient.

They had the "Halia Hula 'O Tahiti" from the Polynesian Cultural Dance Center, they were dancing to music played by DJ Sammie. I found out that the group actually performs for no charge, but they would like that you make a contribution to the Shasta College Fund for Students. What a great cause. They were a wonderful addition to the Trader Joes opening.

Above is the photograph I took of the actual Ribbon Cutting.

Happy May Day

Another year has flown by and here we are again at May Day 2009. Every year in Junction City, CA they have a very wonderful May Day celebration. There are fun games for the children, booths with things to buy for gifts. Then, the piéce de resistance is the actual May Day Ribbon dance, which is where children and adult participate and weave the multi-colored ribbons. It is a fun community event, and the children love it.
