Daphne is blooming in Shasta County

sOne of my favorite flowers, thanks to my Mother!  This is a wonderful fragrant flower, and blooms annually.  The Daphne in our yard, is quite large, a big bush.  There are many, many Daphne blooms all over it.  Currently I have several vases in the house.  It makes the house smell of flowers, and it is very nice.

Crazy Chocolate Cake

Crazy Chocolate Cake!

Crazy Chocolate Cake, a family favorite!

This cake is a little crazy, crazy easy and crazy good.  No dairy either!  You sift the first 5 ingredients into a round glass pan.  Then you make three holes in the dry ingredients and pour, oil, vanilla, and vinegar in the holes, and pour a cup of water over it and mix well.

Then you bake it for 35-40 minutes @350.  

Sift flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda and salt in pan.

Mix well all the ingredients.

Add oil, vanilla, and vinegar.

Add Water over and mix very well.

Children's Pool in La Jolla, San Diego

The La Jolla, Children's pool, also call the Casa, was built originally for the children of La Jolla to have a pool  and beach of sorts that was protected for them to swim in.  The wall which I am standing on and taking photos of, protected the beach.  Over the years the pool has changed and the sand has filled in the pool area.  It is still a popular place to relax, especially for the seals.

Today you will find the children's pool has been overtaken by seals.   Roped off to the public, the seals are perfectly happy with that, they continuing to linger and lounge on the beach.  I am sure some of the residents would like their beach back at some point.

Pelican and Dolphins at Oceanside Pier, San Diego, California

Although a bit cloudy and rainy, we had another wonderful day in San Diego.  The weather did not thwart us from visiting the Oceanside Pier.  The old pier was built in 1925.  It was a nice walk, and we were lucky enough to see some wild life also.

Beautiful Mt. Soledad and La Jolla Shores in San Diego

Starting the new year 2011, in San Diego.  Beautiful beaches, sunny weather, and lot's of fun activities.  We are having a blast.   The pictures here are from Mt. Soledad in La Jolla, looking down at the La Jolla shores.  The top of Mt. Soledad is a Korean War Memorial and is a very nice dedication to the Korean war veterans who served. I lived here year's ago, so much has changed.
