Tomatoes

Would you believe that I have fresh tomatoes from my garden? Two weeks ago there were like 15 tomatoes on the tomato plant, so I picked them and brought them inside. If you put them in a brown paper bag, they will ripen. Here is the proof.

Lemons and Oranges

Lemons and oranges are in season now, and we were given some for Christmas. The lemons are from Chico and Healdsburg, and the oranges from Redding.

This morning it was beautiful, very cold, but clear blue skies. Soon after I took these shots it was it was cloudy and snowed.

Humour during Christmas

Last night at my aunt and uncles it was lots of fun. Apparently, my cousins husband has a sense of humour and rearranged the outdoor lighting.

Christmas Cookies 2008

Once again this year I made the Christmas cookies that my mom has made every year. I enjoy decorating them.The neighbor girl helped me last night and today! She is an excellent artist. My mom painted a few too.

Chico, Upper Bidwell Park

I managed to make a trip out to Bidwell Park in Chico, CA. It was a beautiful December day, so I took drive to Bear Hole, where I used to swim in the summer time. Actually I used to swim at Salmon Hole more, but that was a bit more of a hike.

Something that one of my wonderful aunt's usually does on Christmas is have cold cracked crab. This year we are not going to travel south to her house, but we did have a casual mini crab picnic indoors while watching Fred Klaus. The crab was delicious Dungeness crab!

Cold December Day

The clouds are low and it is cold on the Trinity River.

9 times out of 10

I do not normally complain about drivers and traffic. But I do have questions.

Why do people pass and then switch to another lane, and then brake? Is passing at extreme speeds and then braking dangerously synonymous with driving now? Do they teach this practice in driving school now? Or is it just the rudeness of our society?

Next time you pass, think about it, if you are passing then braking you might be one of those rude drivers.

Kifta for Dinner

Last night I made my version of kifta which is a type of meatball, but middle eastern version, it is made with rice and potatoes. I just made the kifta and served with home made hummus, olives, lettuce, and yogurt sauce I also made.

Mixed one pound of ground beef (you can use lamb too)
1/2 large onion
1/2 cup of Italian parsley
1 1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cumin
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg to mix

Mix it all make into small rolls 2-3 inches long. You can grill, fry or bake. They taste better if they are grilled.

Homeless

Have you ever seen a homeless Asian in America? Or any Asian person begging for money?

I have never.

They are very proud people and tend to help one another before allowing another to become so desperate. We should all learn from this attitude.

Christmas Tree Lighting 2008

The neighbors were nice enough to send pictures of the Christmas tree lighting from downtown Redding, CA. It is that holiday season again! Tis' the season to be merry!

You can get free anti virus software. I like them better than the ones I have paid for in the past.

Avast and Avg are two which I recommend. They take donations if you care to contribute something.

Sacramento River

I took these pictures near Corning, at the Woodson Bridge Park on the Sacramento River.
This is a great place to stop and rest, stretch out the legs, and just enjoy the view.

Lemons

Lemons are finally in season in California. We are so spoiled here. It is so nice not to buy lemons. Thanks to all my friends for the free lemons! I have enough for hummus all month long and to make lemon sugar cookies for the holiday's.
