Caterpillar on Lupin in Trinity County

Caterpillar enjoying wild Lupin.

These wonderful wild flowers are beautiful and also very fragrant.  You can smell them when the wind blows.  I caught this caterpillar enjoying the flowers in the early spring.

Birds that love cherries in Shasta County

Blue jay caught in the cherry tree.

The birds came and ate all of our cherries within just a couple of days.
By the time I made it back to Redding  all the cherries, were gone, or half eaten by birds.

I never see these bright yellow and orange birds until the cherries are ripe and then there are many of them.  I forget the name so if you know, please leave a comment.  Thanks.

These colorful birds LOVE cherries I tell you.

Shasta Lake, Bridge Bay Resort and Tail O the Whale

View from Tail O the Whale restaurant deck.

We went to the Tail O' the Whale for lunch as a meeting point for friends.  The weather was great, and the view was wonderful!   Shasta Lake is so full!

Summer is here finally! Time for swimsuits, sunscreen, water sports, and fun with family and friends.  Northern California has so many lakes and rivers to offer it is one of the most gorgeous places in the United States.

View of mountain, I-5 and Train bridge.

These photographs were taken from the Tail O' The Whale restaurant and also the dock out to the lake. It's a great place to have a meal and take in the breathtaking views.

In the distance is the Interstate 5 which goes from Mexico to Canada.

Spring flower, yellow iris, Trinity county.

Iris' are so beautiful, these yellow bearded iris' bloomed for several days.

I liked the rusted chair in contrast with the yellow and green colors.

One day it rained really hard, and soon after I went out and took photographs of them.

There were some hidden behind some trees so I decide to pick them and put them in a vase.  Well since then, I have learned that they do not do well in vases of water, at all.  They were almost dying the next day.  I'll leave them outside next time.

California Poppies and Blackberry Bushes

Blackberry bush and California poppy.

California poppies were blooming everywhere in April and May.  Native to California this bright orange colored flower is beautiful and can be seen grown in bunches all along the country side.  Different shades of orange, yellow, and dark orange, the range can be quite beautiful.

These particular poppies were blooming among some blackberry bushes and it looked neat to me.

A reminder these flowers are illegal to pick, unless they are on your own property.   Really they are not going to last anyway, they do not do well at all once they are picked.

They are known to bloom in the spring, and also in the fall in California.
