Quote of the Week - Pablo Picasso

The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.

Myna Birds in Shasta County

This Myna bird sat still for me long enough to take a quick photograph. There are so many birds all the time in the yard. They love the old and large tree's in the yard. Most likely that is what they are singing about all the time. ;-)

The Story of the Rusty Bucket

This is the story of the rusty bucket. The old rusty bucket once was a young bucket without a worry in the world. He went about filling up and emptying himself whenever he liked. Young bucket never had to learn anything new. He just kept filling and emptying his bucket the same all the time. His friends tried to get him to try it their way, but young bucket was a little afraid to try anything different. In fact, he thought did it perfectly and did not want to learn any other way. He figured his way was the best, and his friends were wasting their time. He convinced himself that his way was the only way.

Young bucket never thought anything about all the filling up and emptying out that he did. It was very hard work and he dreaded it everyday. However, he felt that was his duty in his bucket life. It never occurred to him that if he did it another way it might be easier, better, and even make him feel good. He just did it over and over, never really contemplating what choices there were in his bucket world.

His bucket friends in his little town moved on and found interesting new methods of filling and emptying their buckets. One bucket learned how fill himself in such a manner that he quickly multiplied and he somehow managed to fill all his buckets and many of his friends and
families buckets too! Young bucket felt jealous of this successful bucket and did not want to talk to him any longer. He wondered why "that" bucket had all the luck in life. A bucket's life is sure unfair he said to himself.

So that his how this bucket dealt with his life. He felt jealous of other buckets and what they had. He kept telling himself things like; "if only my life were different", "I will never had that kind of bucket life", "that bucket has everything given to them", and, "I wish it were that easy for me."

Every time a friend would suggest trying a new method of filling or emptying his bucket, young bucket came up with an excuse as to why he can't fill it that way.

Many years passed in the young bucket's life. He soon became a middle aged bucket, then eventually senior citizen bucket. After a long hard life and feeling bad about himself and feeling resentment of what life had dealt him. The bucket no longer felt joy in filling up and emptying himself. But at the same time he could not bring himself to change, and venture from his familiar bucket life, it was just too comfortable.

Cherry Blossoms and Honeybees

The day before spring was a beautiful day and I photographed bees around the cherry trees. The tree was buzzing with bees, so to say. It was nice to see so many honey bee's as I read so many article's about their decline. Go honeybee's!!! :-) We shall have many cherries this year I am sure!

Trinity River on a Dry March Day

It was a dry day on the river and I saw a bald eagle fly by, so I grabbed the camera and ran down to the bank of the Trinity river. Unfortunately, the bald eagle had flown away. I did sit and wait a bit for him to return. While I waited I took these photographs with my Sony digital camera.

Spring is here again in Northern California

Tulips will always be my favorite. I brought about two dozen bulbs home from the Netherlands one time. Not the most practical item to bring back as a gift from overseas. But they are bulbs and they come back every year and they remind me of the Netherlands.

Lily Fishing for Sticks in the Trinity River

Lily enjoys retrieving sticks of many sizes from the Trinity River. She likes this particular beach because it is shallow and she can wade far out.

Phil - The Neighbor Cat

Here is Phil. I called him Batman the other day! That was my cat's name, Phil looks like him except his hair is shorter. Batman enjoyed bringing home dead bird's and bat's as gifts. That was very lovely! Oh yes, and the time he put a rat on the pillow next to my ex in the bed. Now that was a very special gift! Batman was the funniest cat ever!
